One more Christmas card

I've just had a quick look through my photo card and saw this one which I hadn't posted on here yet.
I've loved using the gorgeous Silent Night papers by Trimcraft this Christmas and they look especially good with silver mirror card.

I layered three different sizes of snowflake diecuts.

The Poinsettia diecuts look great when they are lightly moulded with an embossing tool and layered. I cut the holly leaves from  the same set with silver mirror card and double layered the Happy Christmas sentiments in white and silver.

Winter Wonderland

One more card today before I head off to the shops armed with a shopping list :(
The light is terrible here this morning but I think I've just about managed to capture the glitter etc.

I used 8x8 Silent Night papers from Trimcraft with Tonic Studios dies - Yuletide Greetings, Regal Reindeer and Poinsettia Strip

Happy Birthday David!

No prizes for guessing that it's David's birthday today!!  And the card just says it all!
Hopefully there will be a turkey dinner somewhere along the way today :)

The dies I've used on the card are Tonic Studios - Deco Trellis Base, Silhouette Groom and Partner Sentiments..

Christmas card for Mum

I've finally got around to making a couple of family cards - this one is for my mum.
I've used Dovecraft "Glad Tidings" papers by Trimcraft and dies from Tonic Studios - Regal Reindeer, Clarice Alphabet Duocap, Clarice Lower Case, Mixed Ovals, Yuletide Greetings and trees which I snipped from Christmas Wishes Header fold dies.

Poor cat - new bed under my craft area

Just had to show you this - we got a new bed for our little "stray" and she seems to love it - the only downside is that she likes to be under where I work so she gets covered in scraps from double sided tape! It's not long ago since this would have freaked her out but now she hardly even notices :)

Merry Christmas - Glad Tidings collection from Dovecraft

Good morning! I have a Christmas card made with the Dovecraft Glad Tidings collection by Trimcraft to share to day. These collections with the papers and coordinating embellishments are great for times like Christmas when you are making so many cards at one time - it's all pretty fool proof as everything matches and you hardly need to think!
I love the deep reds and green in this one...and I also love the name. Christmas really is all about the Glad Tidings of Christ's birth.

I used the papers, wooden frames twine, pearls, and glitter stickers along with First Edition dies - Poinsettia and Borders, Frames and Buckles dies (I used the borders around the corners.

How to use the Tonic Studios Flip Flop die sets

This is a step by step photo tutorial showing just one way of using the new Tonic Studios Flip Flop Die Sets.
There are 4 different patterns  -
Forever My Friend, Cherish Every Moment, Love Is..  and It's The Little Things.

When making cards with the Flip Flop dies it is best to use two layers of card to make the finished item sturdy. Alternatively you can add extra card and detail to the back to give support. Because many of the Tonic Studios dies are Verso ( ie they cut the pattern into the card as well as out of the card) they are a great combination to use with these dies as you can see in my sample.

How to use the sets:

I have made this card to fit into a C5 envelope.
1. Cut 2 contrasting pieces of card measuring 21 cm x 21 cm.

 2. Mark each piece of card at 10 cm from the left side and attach the long die to the card with masking tape (cutting side facing down into the card) and pass through your die cutting machine.

 3. Do the same with both pieces of card.

 4. Use the large solid outline heart shaped die to cut 2 hearts - one from both colours of card.

 5. Tape the inner heart shaped die to the white heart (again with the cutting edge facing downwards) and pass through your die cutting machine.

 6. Glue the white detailed heart on top of the plain pink heart.

 7. Use the small "Love" die to cut out the wording from pink card.

 8. Glue the "Love" to the centre of the hearts and then glue the hearts onto the centre panel of the white card.

9. Carefully fold back the card along the debossed lines down the centre.

10. Decorate the sides of the top card - I've used two Silhouette Scene dies (Bride and Groom)  - and then glue the white card to the pink card. Continue to decorate until you are happy with the finished card.

Happy 70th birthday

Just sharing a card I made for a very good friend to give to give to her mum on her 70th birthday!
I've used a combination of Trimcraft's Mulberry Kisses papers, First Edition does and also Tonic Studios dies.

Baby girl card - Trimcraft

I had a good excuse to get my "It's a Girl" papers from Trimcraft out at the weekend - the birth of a beautiful new little baby girl for friends in Dublin.

The background papers are from the 8x8 pad and I cut the tag from the 6x6 paper pad.
I used the Congratulations die from the Traditional Sentiment die set and a little butterfly from the Butterfly die set.

The bunting is hand cut with letters form the Traditional Alphabet die set on top.I added a little detail above the bunting with a die from the Borders, Frames and Buckles die set. Lastly I added a fine line of Dovecraft Crystal Glitter Glue around the edge of the paper.

Trimcraft have just released another beautiful collection by Grace Taylor. It's called Forest Friends and consists of a 12 x 12 paper pad (with 100 pages!) and lots of gorgeous coordinating embellishments.
I've used one of the pages from the paper pad as a background for a scrapbook page of my two cute little great nieces Kaya and Lori.
All the step by step photos and instructions for the page are below.

You will need:
Grace Taylor Forest Friends 12 x 12 paper pad
Grace Taylor Forest Friends Embellishment Stickers
Grace Taylor Forest Friends Sticker Book
Grace Taylor Forest Friends Chipboard Alphas
Grace Taylor Forest Friends Washi Tape
Trimcraft First Edition dies - Foliage, Butterflies and Borders, Frames and Buckles

photo
double sided tape
Dovecraft Crafters Glue
Dovecraft Adhesive Gemstones
white card
die cutting machine

How to make it:
 1. Cut your photo to the desired size and glue onto floral patterned paper. I have used 2 separate photos and removed the background. The background paper is 14.5cm x 12.5cm.
Do NOT attach the photo to the page at this stage.

 2. Cut a strip of white floral paper measuring 4cm x 25cm and attach to the page with double sided tape. Cut a strip of blue floral paper measuring 8cm x 21cm and attach over the top of the narrow strip.

 3. Cut a strip of white floral paper measuring 6cm x 27.5cm and attach across the centre of the page with double sided tape. Cut a strip of blue floral paper measuring 9cm x 23cm and attach across the smaller strip.

4. Add the photo on top with double sided tape. Cut out the heart border and the tree dies from white card and glue to the page as shown above.

5. Glue the three paper die cuts to the page (large flower, small flower and owl on a branch) above the photo.
6. Use the letters from the sticker book to add the names beside the photos

7. Attach the "Friends" embellishment sticker above the photo and the initials from the Chipboard Alphas with Washi Tape below the photo.

8. Add the "Naturally Cute" sticker (from the sticker book) beside the photo. Die cut two butterflies from the blue floral paper and glue on top. Add adhesive gems to the butterflies and also to the tree.

..and the winner of the Promarkers is............

Sorry for not sorting this out sooner but better late than never!! In time honoured fashion I wrote all the names out and put them in a bag -then randomly pulled out a slip with a name on it :)
Ah well, I did try the Random Number Org thing the last time but too many people complained that they couldn't add their name to the Inkinkz list.
So, without further ado, the winner this time is .............

Congratulations!

Sue, if you could please leave me a comment with your full name and address I'll send them off as soon as possible (and I'll not publish the comment with your address!)

I have just received some other lovely "things" which I know you'd love as a prize  so I'll organise another blog prize soon :)

Mum's kitchen - how to make this 3D card

The new First Edition Kitchen dies from Trimcraft are perfect for creating extra special cards for Mums or anyone else who loves to be in their kitchen. I've used them with the new Mulberry Kisses papers, also from Trimcraft, to create a 3D card.
I've added all the instructions and measurements below that you will need to make one for yourself.

You will need:
Trimcraft First Edition Mulberry Kisses paper pads  - 8x8 and 6x6
Trimcraft First Edition Borders, Frames and Buckles dies
Trimcraft First Edition Kitchen dies

Dovecraft 5x7 window card
Dovecraft A4 Silver Mirror card
Dovecraft Crafters Glue

white card
3d foam squares
white card
double sided tape
die cutting machine
craft knife
masking tape

How to make it:

1. Cut a piece of patterned paper to measure 12.25cm x 17.25cm and attach temporarily to the card front with masking tape.

 2. Open the card and draw around the aperture with a pencil. Cut out with a craft knife and attach the panel to the card front with Crafters Glue.

 3. Cut a piece of card measuring 8.5cm x 2.5cm and score at every 0.5cm. Fold and glue together to form a rectangular tube. Cut a piece of patterned paper measuring 8.5cm x 1cm. Score and fold in half then glue to 2 sides of the tube.

 4. Glue the tube to the card front about 1cm below the aperture.. Die cut the oven glove from patterned paper and cut the utensils from silver mirror card.

5. Glue the tops of the utensils to the tube and use 2 x 3D foam squares (as a double layer) to hold the base of the utensils.

 6. Make "curtains" but cutting 2 strips of patterned paper to measure 2.75cm x 9cm and cut 2 borders from contrasting paper. Glue the borders down the edges.

7.  Glue the curtains to the inside of the aperture.
Cut a piece of patterned paper to measure 10.5cm x 15.5cm and attach centrally to the inside right of the card with double sided tape.
Die cut the food mixer from silver card and also from white card. Snip off the white bowl and glue on top of the silver bowl. Attach to the inside of the card with 3D foam squares so that it is in the centre of the aperture.

 8. Cut another border and trim to fit the edge of the shelf. Attach with Crafters glue.

Enjoy!
